Takashi Amano was one of the experts and the most eclectic personalities of freshwater aquarium, photographer and designer born in July – 18 -1954 in Japan, soon he began to take an interest to aquascaping. Already during his school years he joined the Club Organic founded and organized by Nagashima, Club which later distinguished himself nationally by winning several awards. It is internationally recognized the merit of having introduced the concepts of Japanese Zen garden in aquariums with the introduction of plants woods and rocks. His creations are diving representations of natural landscapes and are considered true works of art. 
Amano it is also credited with popularizing the use of aquatic plants Curly fluitans, Glossostigma elatinoides and the introduction of shrimp to control the growth of algae called “Amano shrimp” or “Shrimp Yamato” ( caridina multidentata previously Caridina japonica) also introduced Akadama as a substrate for the growth of aquarium plants, already used in bonsai culture and created various products such as Amazonia soil all belonging to the line ADA (Aqua Design Amano).
He died August 4, 2015 for a pneumonia at 61.
